For La Galerie Perkins’s first blog post, we wanted to write about to why you should visit an art gallery. Obviously, the reasons are going to vary for all of us, but we hope that you’ll always leave feeling touched and happy about your experience.
Experience Artwork
Visiting an art gallery is of course a place where you can take your time and experience a variety of works of art. At La Galerie Perkins, you’ll see artwork from approximately thirty different artists, including gallery owner Danny Perkins. La Galerie Perkins offers artwork in a wide variety of styles and types including paintings and sculptures.
Relaxing Experience
Visiting an art gallery is a relaxing experience, you can wander around at your own pace and look at the artwork that is available. Sometimes, you’ll even find a painting or sculpture so mesmerizing that you’ll find yourself standing in front of it for several minutes. Some believe that it isn’t possible to connect with an inanimate object, but when you connect with a work of art, you’re also experiencing a piece of the artist’s soul. Art can also transport you to another place in a comparable way that a book can, only with artwork you have to create more of the story yourself based on the imagery.
Sensory and Emotional Experience
Looking at artwork can be a sensory and emotional experience. The colours, patterns, brushstrokes, and textures used are something that the eye can see. However, there is so much more to it. Some works of art have the power to bring back memories and evoke emotions.
An art gallery is also a place where you can discuss the artwork that you see whether it be with friends or family that you’re going to the gallery with or with the personnel of the gallery. This year, we are also planning several events which will give you the opportunity to discuss art with the artists in attendance and with others who appreciate art.
Find the Right Piece of Art
An art gallery is also a place you can visit when you’re looking to find the right piece of artwork. It might be to decorate your home or office with, or perhaps to give as a gift. Finding what you’re looking for can take time. La Galerie Perkins plans to rotate its artwork every three months (in April, July, and October) to give you the opportunity to experience even more artwork.
